Description

This is an acrylic painting on bristol board of a branch of orchid blooms. These are Phalaenopsis Schilleriana orchids painted white and pale green. The background is a rich, deep black with hints of dark green leaves in the shadows. The branch of orchids also has yellow and pink unopened buds, ready to bloom.

This painting was designed for glaucoma awareness; the shadows of the orchid petals are green to match the green awareness ribbon color. The artist chose orchids because their blooms last a long time, and we all would like our eyes to last as long as possible. The black background represents vision loss.
